🔹 1. A New Era Begins: Norton Under TVS Ownership
Norton Motorcycles, the iconic British brand known for its high-performance machines, is gearing up for its revival under Indian two-wheeler giant TVS Motor Company. After acquiring Norton in 2020, TVS has worked to restructure the company, and the upcoming V4 sportbike will mark Norton’s first new launch post-acquisition. It also reflects TVS’ growing ambition in the global premium motorcycle segment.
🔹 2. Norton V4 Design and Features: Aggression with Elegance
Spotted being tested by TVS CEO Sudarshan Venu, the Norton V4 shows off a sleek, aerodynamic design. With sharp LED headlights, flowing bodywork, and a committed riding posture, this motorcycle exudes serious supersport intent. The setup includes USD front forks, a rear monoshock, disc brakes at both ends, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The chassis and suspension are expected to be fully adjustable, likely tuned for track and road performance.
🔹 3. Engine and Performance Expectations
While official engine specs are under wraps, the Norton V4 is expected to pack a potent powertrain mated to a 6-speed gearbox, with a bi-directional quickshifter. It will also feature a host of electronic aids, possibly including traction control, riding modes, cornering ABS, and a TFT display. The motorcycle is clearly aimed at rivaling other superbikes in the liter-class segment from brands like Ducati, Aprilia, and BMW.
🔹 4. India Launch Strategy: A Long-Term Vision
Although the Norton V4 is likely to debut at EICMA 2025, its India launch will take more time. TVS plans to re-establish Norton in global markets first before bringing high-end models to India. In the meantime, the company will focus on smaller capacity bikes under the Norton name, aimed at competing with the Triumph Speed 400, KTM Duke 390, and similar mid-segment bikes.
🔹 5. TVS’ Big Plans: Made in India, for the World
TVS’ Hosur facility will be instrumental in producing sub-500cc Norton motorcycles, alongside its upcoming BMW 450cc twins, like the F 450 GS. These bikes will cater to both domestic and export markets. With a shared platform strategy, TVS aims to scale production, cut costs, and develop motorcycles across its brands, including TVS, Norton, and BMW. This synergy marks a major shift for India’s role in the global premium motorcycle landscape.
